Bradford County Incubator

Have a great idea? Turn it into a business at the Bradford County Incubator! FloridaWorks and Santa Fe College Center for Innovation and Economic Development are partnering to create a training program that gives participants the skills and knowledge required to create and grow a business and become self-employed. This program is available to residents of Alachua and Bradford counties.

Training and support are created around each participant's target business in a process-based approach. Training will consist of classroom education, workshops, and one-on-one coaching where participants will learn:

  • Small business management
  • Marketing 101
  • Basics of money management and accounting
  • Human resources management
  • Branding
  • Market Research

Startup Quest

Startup Quest is an entrepreneurship training program for out of work, degree holding, professionals.  The program was formed by partnerships and collaborations including FloridaWorks, the University of Florida Office of Technology Licensing, the Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce, 14 entrepreneurs, and 12 investors.

Healthcare Biomanufacturing Occupational & Technology Training (HBOTT)

Healthcare Biomanufacturing Occupational & Technology Training (HBOTT) is a program funded by the U.S. Department of Labor, Employment and Training Administration designed to allow employers to hire, train and retain qualified program eligible employees in full and part-time permanent positions. The program is intended to raise the technical skill levels of local workers so they can obtain or upgrade employment.

Alachua and Bradford County information technology, advanced manufacturing, healthcare and biotechnology employers are looking to hire and provide occupational and technical on-the-job (OJT) training in a specialized workplace. The HBOTT program provides education, customized training, and job placement assistance. Employees are hired and earn wages from employers during the OJT period, which may be up to six months, depending on the level of skills needed and the duration of the training program. Employers are expected to retain the employee upon successful completion of their OJT training period.

Some of the occupations available for On-the-Job training are:

  • Hardware and Software Designers
  • Technical Writers
  • Compliance Officers
  • Biological Scientists
  • Biological Technicians
  • Medical & Clinical Laboratory Technologists

  • Marketing Specialists

Who is eligible for HBOTT?

Participantsmust be 18 years of age or older, have an associate or bachelor degree, or a high school diploma with work history in a professional capacity with skill levels commensurate with a four-year degree and be

  •  U.S. citizen or be legally authorized to work in the United States;
  • Long-Term Unemployed at the time of program registration.*
*To be considered Long-Term Unemployed, a participant must meet the following conditions at the time of application:

A.  An individual is without a job for 27 weeks or more and wants and is available to work and is able to provide documentation of Reemployment Assistance eligibility; OR
B.  Lost their job during the recent recession (commencing 2008 forward), and have exhausted unemployment benefits; OR
C.  Has not yet reconnected with a job that provides comparable responsibility and pay (underemployment); OR
D.  Is working a part-time when they want a full-time job, or who have become discouraged and have stopped looking for a job.
